Stereotyping Individuals & Party Unification
UPDATE: Senator John McCain. Aretha Franklin. And locally, Weatherman Ed Brandon. What a busy week of high profile funerals of prominent people in Celebration of the lives that were lived for the right reasons. None of these people would want us to mourn their deaths, but rather carry on their example of of service above self. So many of us were motivated by the mortification that was the 2016 Presidential Campaign & subsequent Election & spurred into action to speak out, ge

Validation of What is Real #MisogynyCostHillaryClintonTheElection
UPDATE: We trust that when we look to the nightly news for information about what's going on in our world, that what we are seeing & hearing is true & accurate. This trust is IMPLIED CREDIBILITY. We trust that if it's on TV it must be true. Unless there is deliberate disinformation, propaganda or FAKE NEWS. Originally posted back in November 2017, this is the origin of many of my ideas about "@theRealDonaldTrump" & his #FakeNews. The only "Real thing" about this "FakePresid

Hurricane Harvey our 500-year Flood One Year Later
UPDATE: Thankfully me & my loved ones are still high & dry with lights and power at this point on day three of Hurricane Harvey. The Category 4 Hurricane made landfall southwest of us in Rockport, Texas which has pretty much been wiped off the map. My heart goes out to those people. There are now high-water rescues all across Houston overnight as we slept. The rain is forecast to continue all week this week. This picture is from Tropical Storm Allison in 2001. I-45 South

Saving the Bayou City Proposed Solution
UPDATE: On This Day: August 27, 2017. So many of our public parks & green areas in the heart of the Downtown Metropolitan Houston area along Memorial Drive & Allen Parkway line the banks of Buffalo Bayou. The site of our biggest City-wide celebrations: Fourth of July, the Art Car Parade, Thanksgiving Parade & on & on & on has seen some of the worst of the worst flooding during Hurricane Harvey. Major corporations leading into the heart of Houston’s Business District, includin

Mother Nature??? Can We Stop Humanizing the Weather?
UPDATE: Local remembrances of 2017's Hurricane Harvey continue to pour in as many in our area are still trying to recover. Here is a gentle reminder of how we speak about weather-related events On This Day: August 27, 2017. The outpouring of support near & far for Hurricane Harvey Survivors has been heart-warming to say the least. Our city has been so devastated, even for those of us who were lucky enough to still have a place to call home. Harvey's effects will be felt in a

Happy Birthday Revolving Door HR. Honoring the 19th Amendment for Women's Equality Day
On This Day August 26, 2018 in honor of Women's Equality Day, the Revolving Door HR opened for business. It's 100% of the reason I'm here. Women still struggle for Income Inequality, dignity and R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The Apotheosis of Suffrage, is a 1896 Political spoof of Constantine Brumedi's Apotheosis of Washington that graces the Capitol Rutunda in Washington DC. Taken from the the original Apotheosis of Washington that depicts George Washington as an Angel, this anti-suffrag

Bi-Partisanship at It's Best: Remembering John McCain
Country above Party, doing the right thing for the right reason. This was Senator John McCain. Dignity. Respect. Truth & Honor, John McCain set the record straight when things were wrong. Senator McCain on State of the Union with Jake Tapper Simply thanking him for his service to this country is not enough. He spear-headed the defeat of the terrible Trump plan to "Repeal & Replace ObamaCARE," along with Senators Murkowski & Collins. Those of us in the Disability Community o

Non-Verbal Communication: Victim Blaming
UPDATE. When does Non-Verbal Communication take precedence over the words coming out of someone's mouth? I have long said that there is nothing worse than a roomful of insurance agents, particularly Medicare agents, with Medicare PART A, Medicare PART B, Medicare PART D, part, part, parting all over each other. That is one thing I won't miss about Open Enrollment this year. What I have found is that 9 times out of 10, it is the VICTIM of a Passive-Aggressive Non-Verbal Attack

1984. Backwards From the Beginning
UPDATE: Written in 1948 under the name George Orwell, Eric Arthur Blair 's dystopian nightmare reality is one of the root causes of 20th Century Misogyny. Today is August 4th - 8/4/2018. Nobody I know has ever acted this way. Nobody I know has ever talked this way. I had to learn this for myself. Can we stop BLAMING WOMEN for the English Language??? This is DISCRIMINATION. This is SEXISM. This is PREJUDICE. https://www.revolvingdoorhr.com/single-post/2017/11/26/Racially-Inse
