Can Public Officials Be SLANDERED? Yes They Can. Women's History Month

We trust that individual Reporters will be Fair & not bring their personal biases & prejudices with them in a misleading way.
Yesterday on March 4th, one day after Primary Day for the 2020 Election, a News Story was circulating online IMPLYING Voter Suppression at Texas Southern University.
Nothing could be further from the TRUTH.
In September of 2019, TSU HOSTED the 3rd Democratic Debate on ABC News.

Currently the WORLD is concerned about the Public Health Crisis with the Corona Virus.
FACT CHECKING & VERIFICATION has never been more important.
You CANNOT panic the Public with the RUMOR MILL.
Hence my statement today about POSSIBLE Voter Suppression at Texas Southern.
That RUMOR is VERIFIABLY BLATANTLY FALSE.
Meanwhile, MISOGYNY is alive & well. #MisogynyCostHillaryClintonTheElection.

The benchmark for Slander for anyone in the Public Eye is extremely high, particularly for Public Officials. Public Officials are Elected to conduct business on the Public's behalf. As such the performance of their duties does require a higher level of transparency than a Public Figure, like a musician or actor or anyone else who has voluntarily put themselves in the Public Eye.
Even Public Officials & Public Figures do have some expectation of Privacy in their Private lives.
Slander & Defamation are defined as "harm to one's reputation" resulting from the Circulation of False or Misleading Information.
1. Is it False?
2. Was it Circulated?
3. Was it Believed?
While no one can argue that Hilary Clinton's NAME is not Hillary Clinton, what happened to her during the 2016 Presidential Election Campaigns was an outright smear campaign far beyond Defamation of Character - - - more like Explosive Character Assassination BECAUSE OF HER NAME & her Campaign Platform to PROTECT OBAMACARE.
Because of a NAME.

I really don't think the HealthCARE Candidate was looking to "Bomb anyone's NOSE,"
Does anyone hear how ridiculous that is???
Yet the Defamation, Slander & Character Assassination of Hillary Clinton has been so complete,
Because LIES are at the heart of Libel (the written word) & Slander (the spoken word) she really has no legal remedy to the defamatory attacks on her as a person.
For this reason, we need new legislation to protect future potential Candidates from being attacked on a personal level.

Why would I care such much about whether or not Hillary Clinton has been Defamed?
As a HEALTH INSURANCE AGENT, the National fight over ObamaCARE is BANKRUPTING ME.
I would point to HIPPA Laws protecting the Privacy of Medical Information.
HIPPA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA), arose from the AIDS scare of the early 1990s.
It's been expanded & rewritten for years to include ALL Medical Information that could render a person unemployable, a leper.
Insurance Agents like myself live & die by HIPPA.
With respect to HIPPA, this information is TRUE.
Unlike Libel Laws that are based on LIES, HIPPA recognizes that people can have their Character Defamed by information that is TRUE.
As the Election cycle is well underway again, HEALTHCARE will once again be front & center.
While the "Individual Mandate" to get covered or face a penalty that has now been taken off the table, the question of how to pay for the nation's health will once again be in question.
In addition to adding an ETHICS CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT to even declare Candidacy for Public Office, I believe we need Legislation to eliminate Character Assassination of these brave people who are willing to stick their necks out for us.
Dirty Politics & Mudslinging have been widely accepted as part of the process. No it is not a part of the process.
It is BULLYING, it is UNETHICAL, it is UNACCEPTABLE & it is DEFAMATORY.
This country owes Hillary Clinton an apology.
