30 Days of Discrimination Towards WOMEN

ENCORE PRESENTATATION. This has been my April 1st Post every year since opening my Blog.

It illustrates how Toxic Hostility & Hate Speech towards WOMEN has been Normalized by Society.

This is NO JOKE & I am still NOT LAUGHING.

April is the Fourth Month of the year.

I'm not sure who decided that the NUMBER FOUR is "Code" for WOMEN, but I can tell you it will be 30 days of Toxic Hostile ATTACKS on WOMEN.

Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, employees, job applicants, and union members are protected from sex discrimination at the workplace - including HARASSMENT - yet this stuff keeps happening in Corporate America & in Broadcasts of all kinds.

In 2016, realizing that Health Insurance wasn’t cutting it for me, I decided to go back to my Advertising roots.

I accepted no less than 4 positions – essentially once every 3 months – each one more HELLISH than the last.

What a Misogynistic NIGHTMARE.

This internal sales memo from 2016 was probably my #1 deciding factor in going into business for myself & addressing Income Inequality for Women here at Revolving Door HR.

This Memo greeted me in Email on my FIRST DAY working for this man telecommuting working from the safety of my own home - and I got punched in the nose by the MAN I was working for.

Cyber-Bullying.

April 15th is Income Tax Day.

Is it OK to "attack Women on income Tax day" particularly when the FACT is that the Legislators who wrote the Tax Code were likely MEN?

His Memo ran from April Fools Day - to April 15th: Income Tax Day. Did he just "attack the girls???"

Yes.

Yes he did.

Nothing says “Hey Welcome to the Team like a punch in the nose.”

Today’s story is about an Iconic American Advertising Brand as well known as Good Housekeeping or Better Homes & Gardens…..and no it wasn’t either of them.

This is a company that has been around since the covered-wagon days, whose name implies hospitality, manners & etiquette.

OMG.

The new owner, a self-made-man who made his fortune in sales, had amassed enough wealth to purchase this advertising icon.

My first official day, after a month of training was on April 1st - 4/1.

I was so happy to be in my new work-from-home telecommuting sales position, my invitation to the Monday morning teleconference was here. I opened my Email & this was what greeted me.

Being invested in doing this, giving them a month of my life to do training, I thought, “Well, let’s see what happens. Maybe it will get better.”

Then I met the owner -

OMG.

He flew the entire Texas staff to a 5-Star Resort & Conference Center in Dallas for a Meet & Greet. Not more training, just an opportunity to meet the people whose paycheck he was writing, including me.

Talk about people who watch too much TV - this guy is legitimately off his rocker.

He went went on ENDLESSLY about his 2 favorite TV Shows: The Bachelor & the Apprentice.

It was JAW-DROPPING.

So what does this have to do with Annette Funnicello?

After his initial introduction, he had the entire room stand at attention like we were singing the “Star Spangled Banner,” so he could teach us his company’s “National Anthem” - set to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club theme song:

“M-I-C

K-E-Y

M-O-U-S-E”

I couldn’t run fast enough! I was working for a stark-raving mad LUNATIC!

God help us all.

THIS is what watching TV is doing to our country.

The phrase "No Taxation Without Representation" springs to mind.

Sexist Discrimination towards Women is NOT OK.

This is WHY we need the Equal Rights Amendment & WHY we need more Women in Elected Office.
